The Homestead A warm welcome awaits you at Tatum. Its guardian hosts Darren and Colleen are dedicated to preserving the rich history of 'warm country hospitality'. In earlier days Tatum Park became a training and conference centre for the New Zealand Scout movement. The buildings and ammenties honour its Scouting history. The plaques take you on a journey into this rich and colourful past. Almost all of the facilities are still in use today.
Experience the history and ambience of the Homestead, built in 1912 of solid Totara. Be touched by a piece of New Zealand's early history.
Be inspired by 32 acres of outdoor rooms, expansive lawns, native bush and extensive tree plantings. Delight in the voices of New Zealand's native birds.
For the guardians, tending the park, refurbishing and restoring the buildings and amenties is key to continuing the legacy that is Tatum Park.
